With all the news of the trouble in the banking sector and including those from brokers and investment bankers, I have decided that I will never sacrifice good money management for the temptations of attaining higher returns.

My Fund is comprised of 4 main ideas, the income plays, Stable investments, Long Term growth and speculative plays.

I expect this fund to greatly out perform the market in both the long term and short term without being flashing and having much volitility.

Back in Business - Bigger and Meaner too!

Dear members and readers: after several days of outage (which felt like an eternity to us) we are finally back in business!

But first things first, we wanted to apologize for the outage and we really appreciate your patience and support throughout this time. We know there had been quite some action in the markets in the past week, and it`s crappy not to have been able to close your positions or otherwise capitalize on it. Nonetheless, we hope you will continue to visit our humble site!

Despite this setback, things have not been all bad after all. We used this opportunity to significantly upgrade our servers to better serve you and the growing traffic of this site - a big THANK YOU! We hope you would notice much faster response from our web site and hopefully bye-bye to the annoying periodic outages. There might be a few kinks here and there that we will iron out in the next week or so, but as far ...

BRK.A: Wonderful article by Veryan Allen

Happy Valentine`s day to everyone, including those whose sole love is cold hard CA$H!! May your wish be granted!

So some of you already follow the rather famous Hedge Fund Blog by Veryan Allen (we are lucky enough to have his permission to syndicate it here at Tipping Monkey). He is a hard-core seeker of Alpha returns, and definitely a promoter of the strengths of hedge funds.

I thought his most recent article (posted yesterday) is absolutely wonderful. Not only does he explain why we should all be like the Alpha Rat in the Chinese Zodiac, but he also shares his thoughts on Warren Buffett`s reinsuring of Municipal Bonds, MSFT, YHOO, GOOG, BAC, etc., and why he thinks the Dow Jones Industrial Index is not quite representative of the "real" markets ...

I`m sure you were STRUCK by my title.

I would be too, but this time I ain`t lying.

Stock : EnerGulf ( ENGFF )

This company is about to strike a good amount of oil and gasoline in Azerbaijan.

This can lead to some cash if you make good investments. It can also be an oppertunity of quick cash.

So hurry. Stocks as of now are  2.12 or something like that per stock. You can buy a few hundred and be rich next week.

Heres the article so that you could see for yourself.

RIMM: Recent speculative trade
26 Dec, 2007 20:39 PT
Posted By: primate | 0 comment(s)

I have not been trading too much lately but I did make a few trades (in my real portfolio) and I feel like sharing. Hopefully I could entice some of you to share your comments with us. This is one of them.

One recent speculative trade I made was on RIMM a few days before earnings. I picked it up at around $104 after it took a beating, only to see it drop to about $101 the next day. I sold it the day after the blowout eanrings around mid-day (waited for the West coast folks to wake up and push up the price) at 119.50. It was not bad for a few days of "work".

The reason I sold it was because I felt that I should be able to pick it back up later around 110`s after the new year, but of course, I could be wrong and be kicking myself. Though I always believed that a bird in hand is worth more than two in the bush.

What are your thoughts? You think I made a mistake selling out so early?

WM: Long on WM

I`ve liked WM for a while because they have high customer satisfaction ratings.  My investment club has rejected my purchase reccomendations for 3 months now, and I was unwilling to invest in them with my own account, but since I`m aiming to hit it out of the park in this portfolio I figure I`ll take a risk on WM.
